First of all I must say that Amaya Arzuaga is a very humble women whom I’ve had a great pleasure interviewing backstage at her RTW FW13 collection given her success and talent. She said that her inspiration for this collection came from Hard Edge Paintings, Cubes, and Geometric Abstraction. Major trends she sought out were bi-coloured , laser cuts, oversized shoulder, turtle necks and we definitely saw much of the butterfly silhouette and oversized rounded shoulders to give more power.
To savour the experience, Arzuaga showed her collection at the luxurious and extravagant spanish embassy in Paris and gave us a taste of her high quality wine ARZUAGA reserve from Spain; a Tempranillo grape which is the major component of the Rioja blend ( one of my faves!).
During the show, what really surprised me is the beautiful geometric constructions and designs as well as the crazy beautiful orange we saw on the catwalk which was a big surprise since not many designers during PFW have shown this colour, it was really new and fresh for the season and definitely a colour trend that will set off in winter! Other colours we black, heather grey, petrol green, camel and beige. She also used materials such as chunky knits and leather, flannel and cashmere.
Definitely a delicious and inspiring collection!
