Under the tribal theme of #fieldofimagination we saw a much younger collection since the Candy Bag going into Tribal animal prints, furry keychains and embellishments as well as a rainbow of colors.
A creation of mini bags, clutches and satchels took over most of the collection.
Interviewing Giovanna Furlanetto, President of Furla and founder of the Furla Foundation shares with The Marginalist insides on the current trends she’s overseeing for Furla’s SS17 collection, new expansion plans for Asia as well as news on the celebration of their upcoming 90th anniversary and next years Furla Foundation plans.
“We have expansion plans in China at what we like to call the “Furla pace”; a cautiously aggressive way to enter China.” says Furlanetto laughing.
“The Chinese girls really love our products where we are very pleased on the results. Although most brands are currently suffering in China with a slow down, we have seen positive results in sales. I think that our brand is giving a good value for our customers where we are now launching a totally new spring summer collection that is fresh and young where we are seeking to further expand in China in the next years.” she continues.
“The Furla women is a contemporary woman, young in her 20-30’s, and in the middle of her career. Hence, our office in HK keeps track of the trends that are focused on China and Asia where we often collaborate with bloggers in China, Japan and HK. We also ensure that the visibility of the brand goes through every possible media channels especially new media to continue our worldwide expansion.”
After a global sales increase of +30% (2015), the brand plans on creating more customized limited edition bags/collections over the world doing homage to iconic buildings in each capitals of the world, “we will do a customized metropolis bag for Moscow showcasing the iconic Saint Basil’s Cathedral to honor Moscow , we’ll also be doing customized bags for the highly anticipated opening of our third store in Bompton London. For the Chinese market, we are also seeking to do hand painted colors of key symbolic buildings. Usually, for handbags, the hottest top 10 styles globally in general are the same, so we don’t want to derive too much from our key structures but the customized design around them” continues Furlanetto.
She concludes with sharing her projects on how the brand plans on amplifying Furla’s 90th Anniversary for 2017 where they will be creating special products to celebrate the event. “It’s a real milestone for our company to continue operating after almost 3 generations. We’re very proud of it where we’re now present in over 100 countries worldwide and our roots are still going strong and continue to grow. I can say for next year we are now ready for further expansion on a global level with a strong focus on Asia. To conclude, we’re proud to say that Furla is the only “Made in Italy” product at our current price point, so we offer both high creativity, quality and the pure added value of being “Made in Italy”, an asset recognized worldwide for the quality of its design and creative know how.”
