Feeling ZENTAI (ish)?-ゼンタイ
Zentai is a movement that originated in Japan and grew out to be a huge fetish (like) phenomenon in Asia as well as abroad.
Today many artists, creative directors and actors are incorporating the Zentai look into their stories creating « bondage type » fantasies, music, and commercial entertainment. Made out of total spandex or lycra (body tights), the Zentai outfit completely covers you head to toe creating a weird “cartoon like” bug/alien look creating a full on body suit.

Japanese Origin ゼンタイ, a portmanteau of 全身タイツ (zenshin taitsu, “full-body tights”).
ABC news article written by Mathew Carney stated that most families in Japan are very conservative, to create a personal balance they created a secret Zentai club allowing them to express themselves through self liberation and being comfortable in their second skin when they wear Zentai. Regardless of the profession, a teacher or a lawyer one becomes without identity and they emerge into their real selves.
For many of them it gives a break from the pressures and expectations of the Japanese society, so for a day (or secret club meeting) they go out and express themselves with no revilement of identity! The idea of not being judged and being their true self from their “second skin” gave more people the chance to want to join them into the Zentai club. In Tokyo there are +3000 members and new sources are coming in every day!
In the Japaneese society there’s a saying “elegance of silence” which means the more you hide the more attractive you are!
Today people from all around the globe use the Zentai look. For instance at Comicon thousands of people come together to dress up as their favorite superhero character.
The movie “The skin I live in” (2011) is a Thriller about a man who is a top plastic surgeon; haunted by past tragedies he kidnaps a women who is the key to his obsession. In this movie Antonio Banderas uses Zentai on his victim so that she can have the right body placement.
Having thought provoking sexual intentions, the character who is hostage is locked up in a room for year and uses the Zentai outfit to do intensive yoga. There is also the Zentai’d tiger ( designed by Jean Paul Gaultier) who tries to sexually aggress her along the way.
SUPERHEROS ( SUPER VILLAINS )
Power Rangers, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z have also all been influenced by the full on Zentai look.
Catwomen, probably my favorite female villain of all times, looks amazing in this stiched up Zentai’d catsuit!
There is another great example (left) Jim Carrey starring as “The Riddler” in Batman Forever (1995) while in Batman & Robin (1997) starring Uma Thurman is also shown wearing a green lycra Zentai bodysuit camouflaging her true identity.
For some people use zentai as a S&M fetish Bondage, dominance and submission! Which is another way of feeling of feeling confident ( in bed)!
